For more than 50 years, the African Medical & Research Foundation (AMREF) has worked with African communities in over 30 countries including Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan to break the vicious cycle of poor health and poverty. Africa-based, we are the largest health development organization on the continent, creating lasting, locally-run health services for millions of people. In our work, we champion the most vulnerable populations, with a special focus on women and children, and the most critical health issues facing Africa today: HIV/AIDS and TB, malaria, family and reproductive health, clean water and sanitation, training health workers, and clinical and surgical outreach.
