Established in 1880, University of Southern California (USC) is one of the world's leading private research universities. The central mission of the University of Southern California is the development of human beings and society as a whole through the cultivation and enrichment of the human mind and spirit. The principal means by which our mission is accomplished are teaching, research, artistic creation, professional practice and selected forms of public service. USC enrolls about 33,500 undergraduate, graduate and professional students. The College of Letters, Arts and Sciences offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees in over 30 academic departments. Undergraduates can design degrees from 77 majors and 101 minors. Master's, doctoral and professional students can earn degrees in 139 areas of study.
